What is Coaching?

Coaching is a solution-focused approach to health, wellness and optimization which aims to enhance one’s overall insight, awareness, resilience and transformation. Stemming from the belief that there’s more right than wrong with all beings, coaching is rooted in the present moment and meets people exactly where and as they currently are. Rather than rehashing the past or trying to “fix” people – which insinuates they’re broken or flawed – coaching celebrates as well as builds on individuals’ strengths and accomplishments. Not only does coaching empower people to think for themselves – to tap into their deep inner knowledge and wisdom – but also it encourages individuals to overcome their own self-imposed limitations and external blocks stifling their wellbeing and/or success in life.

What is Mindfulness?

According to American scientist, writer, meditation teacher and founder of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Jon Kabat-Zinn, “Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present-moment, non-judgmentally.” In other words, Mindfulness is being completely and intentionally focused on “the now,” rather than caught up in the past or swept away by the future. It fosters life-affirming attitudes such as patience, non-judgement, acceptance, loving-kindness, compassion and gratitude, not to mention it enhances responsiveness while decreasing reactivity.

Mindfulness has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, improve mood, increase concentration and enhance mental as well as physical health. It’s also been discovered to shrink the amygdala (the fight or flight mechanism in the brain), activate the prefrontal cortex (responsible for rational thinking, decision making and self-regulation) and thicken the hippocampus (controlling memory and learning). Mindfulness literally rewires the brain!

What is Mindfulness-Based Life Coaching (MBLC)?

MBLC is a holistic practice combining powerful life coaching processes with effective mindfulness techniques for optimal growth, achievement and wellbeing. Not only do MBLC clients experience positive shifts throughout the coaching agreement, but also they gain invaluable as well as practical tools to face life’s challenges and reach their goals long after coaching is over.
